Girl Scouts honor Library Director

Girl Scouts of Gateway Council (GSGC) celebrated five of Gainesville's most accomplished women - Jane Adams, Dr. Karen Harris, Brittany Lee, Jane Muir and Shaney T. Livingston - for their community service and achievements that have impacted this community.

According to an article in The Gainesville Sun these women were chosen by a committee assigned to determine who has made a difference in the Gainesville area, said Mary Anne Jacobs, chief executive officer of GSGC.

Library Director Livingston said her experience as a Brownie gave her confidence and showed her the importance of character.

"Your values start at an early stage," she said. "You really have to have courage to be a leader."

Livingston also serves on the boards of Alachua County Children's Alliance and the United Way of North Central Florida.
