All library card holders are invited to take part in the Big Library Read. Starting June 3 through the morning of June 18, unlimited checkouts are available for the mystery eBook, A Pedigree to Die For, Book 1 of the Melanie Travis Mystery Series by Laurien Berenson.

The Big Library Read is an international program that gives library card holders unlimited simultaneous access to this popular title, creating a virtual, global book club. With a valid library card, A Pedigree to Die For is available to eReaders on all major computers and devices, including iPhone®, iPad®, Nook®, Android™ phones and tablets and Kindle®. Titles will automatically expire at the end of the lending period on June 18.

“If you haven’t explored the library’s digital collection, the Big Library Read is a great way to start,” said Gail Moss, Librarian Supervisor in Technical Services/Acquisitions ACLD. “And, for all of our digital “veterans,” Berenson’s cozy mystery will kick off the summer just right.”

This mystery starts with the apparent heart attack of kennel owner Max Turnbull leaving seven pups in mourning, and his wife Peg suspecting foul play. The only evidence is their missing prize pooch - a pedigreed poodle named Beau. Melanie Travis soon discovers, in a championship dog-eat-dog world, the instinct for survival, and winning, can prove fatal. Join the Big Library Read and get hot on the trail of one elusive murderer.

The library’s digital collection includes more than 20,000 eBook titles available with a variety of choices available for instant checkout without waiting for a hold request. Plus thousands of downloadable eAudiobook titles and Disney Online eBooks for children are available. Additionally, the Library District offers support to new eBook readers at www.aclib.us/askus.

The Big Library Read program is made possible through a partnership between OverDrive, the leading supplier of eBooks and Kensington Publishing Corp., publisher of Laurien Berenson’s unusual and fascinating mystery.

OverDrive is a leading multichannel digital distributor of eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMusic and eVideo. Overdrive provides secure lending platforms for 28,000 libraries, schools and retailers worldwide with support for all major computers and devices, including iPhone®, iPad®, Nook®, Android™ phones and tablets, and Kindle® (U.S. only).
