Poet and artist Catherine K mounted her newest multimedia piece in honor of Earthday. Meet Catherine and other multi-talented artists at our monthly poetry group at 4pm on the last Wednesday of each month.

Teens for Human Rights
We will launch the North Florida chapter of Youth for Human Rights. The agenda includes a video followed by a discussion with Dr. Winston P Nagan. Nagan has worked with Nelson Mandela and the Apartheid movement..he a wonderful speaker.
Computer Class is back!!!
Come learn the basics and get help with more advanced concerns with one of our staff librarians. Each Wednesday at 11 we will meet in the Spot to cover basic skills and address your concerns and questions.
Library Scavenger Hunt
Our teen advisory group planned another fun event at the library; a scavenger hunt. They coursed through shelves and our website to locate thirteen items on a list. Three teams, all winners, thank you teens, you are the best.

Reading is Magic with Gentle Carousel Horses
Come celebrate the end of the Summer Reading Program with Gentle Carousel Horses at the Alachua Branch Library. These talented horses will be performing parts to some of our favorite books. We will also be celebrating our readers for their accomplishments throughout the summer. Join us on August 18th at 2pm at the Alachua Branch Library.

Fun Magic
Dattatreya Knighten entertained the crowd this Thursday. He is a fine magician and has entertained people from all over the world.
Teen Masquerade Prom
Teens from the Alachua area regaled the onset of summer with a fun filled evening of mask-making, dancing and fun. A special thanks to the teen advisory comittee that planned and hosted the event, Alachua's Domino pizza for the yummy food and Trish Utter with the Good Life Community Magazine for these fantastic photos.

Musical showcase
Sunday from 2pm to 4pm, local musicians will be showcasing various instruments.
Lego League was a success
Sweetwater Branch Academy Lego League Team will be at Alachua Branch Library between 2pm and 4pm on Saturday, May 21st, 2011. They will share their two year Lego League Competition experience with the audience, build one vehicle and control it using a Bluetooth Remote Control. The audience will also can play rock-paper-scissor game with a robot! It will be an exciting learning experience for kids. Lego League is a competition that introduces younger students to real-world engineering challenges by building LEGO-based robots to complete tasks on a thematic playing surface.
Rock Band Tournament
These are our four winners for the Rock Band Tournament held on Sunday April 10th. Thanks to our Teen Advisory Group and teen volunteers for making this program a success.
Photo safari @ the alachua branch
For Teen Tech Week a bunch of us went on a Photo Safari. Two teams followed a list of twenty items needed to complete their mission. The slideshow displays some of the captured fun.
Craft Circle
Please join our Crafting Circle on the second and forth Wednesday each month at 3pm, all ages are welcome. We will be crocheting squares to create a blanket for a Warm-Up America. Other crafts are welcome to teach and share.
