Robert Johnson: "The bedrock upon which modern blues and rock and roll was built”

As a popular folk legend has it, Robert Johnson once stood at a Mississippi crossroad and sold his soul to the devil in exchange for guitar playing prowess. Johnsons’s lyrics were edgy. His playing style was a palate of delta slide and intricate finger picking. His voice pendulumed between painful moan and lustful exuberance. His weakness for whisky, women and wandering lead him to a life as an itinerant musician until his murder in 1938 at the age of 27.
Johnson's 29 original compositions have been covered by a wide range of artists including Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters, Allman Brothers, Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones.

Still others have taken the leap to simplify their lives enough to live comfortably in minimal square footage.
Some builders use salvaged recycled materials, while others use premium materials and assemble their micro dwelling as objects of art. Many make use of natural landscape to add a sense of spaciousness and connection with the environment.
North American Indian Trail Marker Trees

North Central Florida has them, and you can help researchers compile a more complete story of their use.
Indian Trail Marker Trees still dot the landscape of the Eastern United States. Existing trees were formed by North American Indians in the 1700s and 1800s by tying a sapling such that it pointed toward a direction of travel or an important resource like water or a natural shelter. As the sapling matured, “classic” trail trees were pruned to the double 90 degree position angles that are naturally very rare in a forest. This made the sign trees more visible to forest travelers.
