Starting August 4, the Cone Park Branch will be open Tuesday through Thursday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and closed Sunday and Monday. This new schedule will better serve the citizens of this community.
“Since opening in November 2011, Cone Park staff has had the chance to observe library usage and informally survey patrons to determine the hours of service that will best satisfy the needs of this community,” said Phillis Filer, Public Services Administrator. “These new hours provide a more consistent schedule, plus longer hours of service on the busiest days. Cone Park Branch is coordinating its programs to enhance what the City of Gainesville has scheduled at its Fred Cone Park Recreation Center.”
Since opening its doors last November, visits to the Cone Park Branch have increased from 3,311 to 9,427 visits for the month of May 2012. This Branch has hosted 53 programs with 537 persons attending. To accommodate more participation, library programs are being held both in the library, located at 2841-A E. University Avenue, and at the City's Recreation Center located next door.
