James Baldwin was a voice of conscience for African-Americans (and indeed, all Americans) in the 20th century. His untimely demise in 1987 at the age of 63 was an incalculable loss to the world of letters and the world in general, but his work continues to be of relevance today. Please join us as we celebrate his life and work on what would've been his 90th birthday, Sunday, August 3 @ 2 pm at the Headquarters branch. Dr. Patricia Hilliard-Nunn of the University of Florida's African-American studies program with several other panelists will lead the conversation about Baldwin--of course, all are welcome. Don't miss this opportunity to share and learn more about this extraordinary person. You can also check our catalog for works by and about Baldwin.
