The Alachua County Library District Governing Board and Board of Trustees met in joint special session.

PRESENT:             Governing Board Chair Scherwin Henry, presiding, Governing Board Vice-Chair Paula M. DeLaney, Governors Mike Byerly, Thomas Hawkins, Lee Pinkoson, and Barbara J. Sharpe

                             Board of Trustees Chair Vivian L. Filer, presiding, Vice-Chair Gloria A. Moore, Trustees Sheila Dickison, Dorothy Field, Ora L. White and Kim A. Worley

ABSENT:               Trustee Xavier J. Monroe

ALSO PRESENT:   Library Director Shaney T. Livingston, County Attorney David Wagner, Assistant County Attorney William Harlan, Deputy Clerk Bob Decker

The meeting was not televised.

Chair Henry opened the meeting at 10:33 A.M.

I.       APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA

          Governor Sharpe moved approval of the agenda.  The motion carried 4-0 with Governors Byerly and DeLaney out of the room.

          Trustee Field moved approval of the agenda.  The motion carried 6-0.

II.     LONG RANGE FACILITIES AND SERVICE PLAN FOR FISCAL YEARS 2012 – 2017

          Library Director Shaney Livingston presented the above item.

          Governor DeLaney entered the room at 10:34 A.M.

          Governor Byerly entered the room at 10:37 A.M.

          Governor Hawkins moved to accept the Long Range Facilities and Service Plan for Fiscal Years 2012 through 2017.

          Chair Henry recognized Library Director Shaney Livingston, who stated that the correct protocol was for the Board of Trustees to accept the report prior to the Governing Board.

          Trustee Dickison moved that the Board of Trustees accept the Long Range Facilities and Service Plan for Fiscal Years 2012 through 2017.  The motion carried 6-0.

          Chair Henry called the question on the Governing Board’s motion to accept the Long Range Facilities and Service Plan for Fiscal Years 2012 through 2017.  The motion carried 6-0.

III.    CITIZEN COMMENT

          There were no citizens present who wished to provide comments to the Governing Board and Board of Trustees.

          Library Director Shaney Livingston announced that the opening of the Teen Space at the Headquarters Library would be held March 8, 2012 at 11:30 A.M.  She invited the Governing Board and Board of Trustees to attend.

IV.     ADJOURNMENT

          There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 11:10 A.M.
