Local Author Todd Hasak-Lowy speaks at Headquarters Library

Local writer and professor Todd Hasak-Lowy is the author of the short-story collection The Task of This Translator, the novel Captives, and an academic study Here and Now: History, Nationalism, and Realism in Modern Hebrew Fiction. He is presently an associate professor of Hebrew Language and Literature at the University of Florida.

Professor Hasak-Lowy will be presenting a brief reading of his books, fielding audience questions and signing books on Sunday, June 6th, 2010 - 2:00 PM, at the Headquarters Library - 401 East University Avenue, Gainesville, Florida.

New interactive online language learning resource now available

GAINESVILLE, FL – A new world language-learning product, Powerspeak Languages, is now available at Alachua County Library District. 

The first four languages available are Spanish, French, German and Mandarin Chinese. The courses use a variety of multi-sensory activities to take full advantage of the brain’s ability to acquire language. Designed specifically for use by the diverse audience of library users, the courses include a combination of scored online activities, exercises, lessons and games.
