Annual Literacy Festival - October 8, 2011
Come celebrate a passion for learning at the 23rd Annual Family Literacy Festival being held at the Alachua County Headquarters Library and Matheson Museum on Saturday, October 8th. This year’s event will feature local performance groups, vendor displays, literacy awards, free books, and much, much more. Keep an eye out for special guests Publixaurus, Max City Dog, Chick-fil-A Cow, and Waste Watcher. The festival is 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Free parking is provided at the Union Street Station Parking Garage from 9:30 to 1:00. Come discover our local literacy services available in our community and celebrate reading with your library.
The Alachua County Literacy Network is now accepting applications for its annual literacy awards to be awarded at the festival. Take this opportunity to nominate a volunteer, organization, a professional or a business that has contributed to the cause of literacy. Send us your name, address and phone number, who you're nominating, what their contributions include, and your nominee's address and phone number. Award nominations are due by September 2, 2011.
