Three-part "Law in the Library Series" scheduled for Headquarters
The Alachua County Library District is partnering with the Eighth Judicial Circuit Bar Association to present the “Law in the Library Series,” these monthly presentations will share legal information from experienced attorneys on three important issues.

WHEN:
6 p.m. on Monday, February 27th Residential Foreclosure Legal Issues
6 p.m. on Monday, March 26th Elder Law Issues
6 p.m. on Monday, April 30th Landlord Tenant/Public Housing Legal Issues
WHERE: Headquarters Library, Room A, 401 E. University Avenue, Gainesville
WHY: To provide area citizens with legal information and services on pertinent topics
On February 27, James (Mac) McCarty, President of the Eighth Judicial Circuit Bar Association, will host the first seminar on residential foreclosure issues. In conjunction with the Alachua County Library District, the EJCBA is aiming to inform the public about important legal issues facing the community. All seminars will be held in Room A at the Headquarters Library, located at 401 E. University Avenue.
At the first seminar, Mr. McCarty will discuss residential foreclosures issues including short sale options and how a homeowner can work with the bank to recover an underwater home. The next two seminars will take place on March 26 and April 30, and will cover issues facing the elderly, as well as landlord tenant and public housing legal issues, respectively.
The EJCBA is a voluntary bar association consisting of more than 300 Florida Bar members who practice or reside in Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Gilchrist, Levy and Union counties. It is involved in a number of educational, charitable and service functions benefitting both its members and the public at large.
