The Alachua County Library District is your perfect holiday helper with craft classes for all ages. All programs are free. Some holiday events require registration, click the links to sign up.

For kids and teens

    Millhopper School of Witchcraft and Wizardry SewingSpace

    • Wednesday, Nov. 13, 4 p.m., Millhopper Branch, ages 12 and older
      Friday, Nov. 22, 4 p.m., Millhopper Branch, ages 12 and older
      Hand sew a Patronus Christmas ornament to keep or to gift to a friend. Younger children are welcome but may need an adult's help. Supplies provided.

    Sew X-tra Cross Stitch Club

    • Tuesday, Nov. 19; Tuesday, Dec. 3; Tuesday, Dec. 17, 4 p.m., Headquarters Branch, ages 12 and older
      Create seasonal-themed patterns, from food designs to holiday images.

    Perler Beads

    • Tuesday, Nov. 26; Tuesday, Dec. 10, 4 p.m., Headquarters Branch, ages 12-18
      Use a fall, holiday or winter pattern to create a perler bead design. Create a perler bead ornament on Dec. 3

    Creativebug: Handmade holiday cards 

    • Monday, Dec. 2, 5 p.m., Tower Road Branch, ages 12 and older
      Using our craft database, Creativebug, we will show you techniques for creating holiday card techniques. You will have the opportunity to create a card of your own. Supplies provided. 

    Woven Holiday Crafts

    • Tuesday, Dec. 3, 4 p.m., High Springs Branch, ages 12-18
      Teens and tweens can create woven crafts. Supplies provided. Registration required.

    Everything Looks Better with Glitter! A Holiday Craft Workshop

    • Wednesday, Dec. 4, 3 p.m., Tower Road Branch ages 5-11
      Celebrate the holidays by making glittery crafts and ornaments. Supplies provided. 

    ArtSpace: Victorian Holiday Ornaments 

    Hand Stitched Deer Ornament

    • Saturday, Dec. 7, 2:30 p.m., Micanopy Branch, ages 12 and older
      Use our Creativebug eSource to create a rustic fawn ornament with felt, thread, twine, and some simple hand stitching. 

    Holiday Bags and Tags

    • Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2:30 p.m., Headquarters Branch, ages 12 and older
      Make holiday gift bags and gift tags using Cricut and sewing machines. Learn how to make holiday gift bags using newspaper and a sewing machine. Make holiday gift tags using the Cricut and stamps. Supplies provided.

    Beaded Christmas Ornament Covers

    DIY Emoji Christmas Ornaments

    • Friday, Dec. 13, 4 p.m., Millhopper Branch, ages 12-18
      Make an emoji ornament using yarn and felt. Supplies provided.

    Creativebug: Up your Gift Wrapping Game!

    • Monday, Dec. 16, 5 p.m., Tower Road Branch, ages 12 and older
      Learn to wrap a gift, create your own bow, and pick up gift tag advice. Supplies provided.

    Drop Spindle Class

    • Wednesday, Dec. 18, 5:45 p.m., Archer Branch, ages 12 and up
      Make your own drop spindle (or bring your own) to turn wool roving into yarn you can use for knitting, crochet, or any other yarn craft! This program will teach you both how to make a spindle and how to use it to create yarn.

    Holiday Cards Craft

      Make a card with your little one for someone special. Supplies provided.

    Decorate a Light Switch Cover

    • Monday, Nov. 18, 3:30 p.m., Alachua Branch, ages 19 and older
      Make a personalized light switch cover that will light up any room. These covers are easy to make, functional, and a great gift for the holiday season. Supplies provided.

    Holiday Tablescapes

    • Monday, Nov. 18, 6 p.m., Tower Road Branch, ages 19 and older
      In the midst of the holiday season, using natural materials, vegetables and fruits from our gardens is an excellent way to create decorations or arrangements. Join our Master Gardener to learn tips and tricks to create your own masterpiece.

    Holiday Wreaths

    • Tuesday, Nov. 26 5 p.m., Millhopper Branch, ages 19 and older 
      Make a holiday wreath with tree branches woven through a metal frame. Then craft fabric flowers to bring color to your wreath. All materials provided.  

    DIY Bath Salts in a Jar

    • Tuesday, Dec. 3, 12:30 p.m., Library Partnership Branch, ages 19 and older
      Sample essential oils and make your very own jar of baths salts to indulge yourself or give as a holiday gift in this class with Gilda of MSB Aromatherapy. Supplies provided. Registration required.


    • Thursday, Dec. 5, 6 p.m., Headquarters Branch, ages 19 and older
      Create a gift for yourself or someone else using essential oils with Gilda of MSB Aromatherapy.

    Sew Holiday Gift Bags and Bow

    • Saturday, Dec. 7, 2:30 p.m., Alachua Branch, ages 19 and older
      Tired of burning through rolls of gift wrap? Create your own holiday gift bags and bows. Sew a beautiful reusable gift bag and tie fancy ribbon bows. Supplies provided.

    Book Christmas Trees 

    • Monday, Dec. 9 5:30 p.m., Headquarters Branch, ages 19 and older 
      Fold and decorate a beautiful Christmas tree from a recycled paperback book. Feel free to bring your own book, or use a title provided. Decorating supplies provided. Registration required. 

    DIY Holiday Greeting Cards
