The Alachua County Library District Governing Board and Board of Trustees met in joint special session.
PRESENT: Governing Board Chair Paula M. DeLaney, presiding, Governing Board Vice-Chair Barbara J. Sharpe, Governors Susan Bottcher, Mike Byerly, Yvonne Hinson-Rawls, and Lee Pinkoson
Board of Trustees Chair Vivian L. Filer, presiding, Vice-Chair Gloria A. Moore, Trustees Sheila Dickison, Ora L. White and Xavier J. Monroe
ABSENT: Trustee Kim Worley
ALSO PRESENT: Library Director Shaney T. Livingston, Assistant County Attorney William Harlan, Deputy Clerk Bob Decker
The meeting was not televised.
Board of Trustees Chair Filer and Governing Board Chair DeLaney opened the meeting at 10:32 A.M.
I. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA
Trustee Monroe moved approval of the agenda. The motion carried 5-0.
Governor Bottcher moved approval of the agenda. The motion carried 5-0 with Governor Byerly out of the room.
Governing Board Chair DeLaney welcomed new Governing Board members Susan Bottcher and Yvonne Hinson-Rawls.
Governor Byerly entered the room at 10:34 A.M.
II. FISCAL YEAR 2012-2013 TENTATIVE BUDGET
Library Director Shaney Livingston presented the above item.
Trustee Monroe moved to approve the 2012-2013 Tentative Budget and recommend approval by the Governing Board. The motion carried 5-0.
Governor Sharpe moved to approve the 2012-2013 Tentative Budget. The motion carried 6-0.
Board of Trustees Chair Filer thanked staff for all their hard work.
Governor Bottcher stated that she is pleased to serve on the Governing Board and thanked staff.
Governor Byerly requested to know the Library District’s policy on smoking near entrances to Library facilities.
Facilities/Safety Services Administrator Daniel Whitcraft stated that the policy is that no smoking should occur within 50 feet of entrances. He further stated that staff has posted signs and moved benches away from the entrances of Library facilities.
Governing Board Chair DeLaney stated that library services are a great deal for the public.
III. CITIZEN COMMENT
Governing Board Chair DeLaney recognized Mark Venzke who presented comments to the Board.
Trustee Dickison moved to adjourn the Board of Trustees meeting. The motion carried 5-0.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 11:28 A.M.
