Gainesville, Fla. – The Alachua County Library District will close all branches and bookmobiles from Sunday, March 15 through Sunday, March 29, 2020, out of an abundance of caution in response to the global outbreak of COVID-19 (coronavirus disease).

Branches will be open normal hours tomorrow, Saturday, March 14. Currently, branches are scheduled to reopen on Monday, March 30. All library programs are suspended through Sunday, April 5.

The Millhopper and Tower Road branches will host voting only on Tuesday, March 17 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The library space of the branches will not be open during voting.

Patrons with materials currently checked out will be able to keep those materials until the Library District reopens, regardless of the items’ due dates.

“Out of concern for the health and safety of our patrons and employees, I have decided to proceed with caution during this ever-changing situation,” said Library Director Shaney T. Livingston.

Patrons can access hundreds of thousands of digital books, online courses, and magazines 24 hours a day from any internet-connected device. Please visit www.aclib.us/mobile to access our online resources.
