Gainesville, Fla. – Get a little help picking your next read or watch with the Alachua County Library District’s new Grab & Go service. Launching this week, patrons can call their preferred branch to request a bag of materials tailored to their tastes and ready to pick up in just one hour. Parents and guardians can also pick up a curated Story Time in a Bag for children. Both services are free and available to anyone with a library card.

“Our new Grab & Go services are the perfect way to discover new books, movies, and music – all for free from your library,” said Public Services Division Director Joyce West.

To use the service, patrons can call any branch and share what type of books, movies, or music they like, such as true crime, historical fiction, manga, action-adventure, jazz, etc. Library staff will pull 3-5 items and have them ready in an hour. Patrons can pick up their Grab & Go bags via the Library District’s curbside service. Grab & Go is available Monday-Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at all 12 branches.

Parents and grandparents can also grab a Story Time in a Bag, a collection of books, songs, and activity ideas for children ages 0-6. Parents can go to any branch and call to have a Story Time in a Bag delivered to them at curbside. New themes are introduced each week, such as Emotions, Down on the Farm, and Friendship.
