Battle of the Books is July 29 at Headquarters Library

Cheer for your favorite Battle of the Books teen team at Alachua County Library District’s 8th annual Battle of the Books competition at Headquarters Library on Saturday, July 29, at 1 p.m. This annual competition is between teams of teens from different library branches. During the summer teams from participating branch libraries meet regularly to discuss the three selected books used in the challenge. The selected books this year are Samurai Rising: The Epic Life of Minamoto Yoshitsune by Pamela S.

Celebrate National Week of Making June 16-22 at your library

Celebrate National Week of Making, June 16-22, at your library. During this week, Alachua County Library District is providing creative and innovative making activities. Participants of all ages can explore robots, participate in hands on video making, sew something or experiment with a 3D printer.

Libraries will be closed for July 4th holiday

The Alachua County Library District will be closed all day on Tuesday, July 4, in observance of the Independence Day holiday. All branch libraries will be closed and the two bookmobiles will not make their normally scheduled stops. All book drops and online services including eBook checkouts at www.aclib.us will be available.

All 12 library locations and both bookmobiles in Alachua County will resume their regular schedules on Wednesday, July 5.
