All libraries will be closed November 11 and 12 for Veterans Day Holiday

Alachua County Library District will be closed all day on Sunday, Nov. 11 and on Monday, Nov.12, for the Veterans Day Holiday. All book drops and online services including eBook checkouts at www.aclib.us will be available. Regular schedules at all 12 Alachua County branch libraries and both bookmobiles will resume starting Tuesday, Nov. 13.

26,000 public school students receive Student Library Cards

More than 26,000 public school students are receiving Student Library Cards during October as a new initiative created to provide more students with access to print and online resources available through their public libraries. This joint effort between Alachua County Library District and the Alachua County Public Schools seeks to remove barriers for students who might not otherwise be able to use or access public library materials and resources by delivering Student Library Cards directly to students at their schools.

Local Author Series presents J. Elliott on October 28 at Headquarters Library

Alachua County Library District’s Headquarters Library continues season two of its Local Author Series on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2:30 p.m., J. Elliott will discuss her second collection of ghost stories, Tales from Kensington & Other Macabre & Unsettling Offerings. She will talk about these spooky stories that are sometimes amusing and assuredly disquieting. This collection of stories is her second.

Construction of new Waldo Branch started in September

Alachua County Library District started constructing a new Waldo Branch Library in September. The previous Dollar General 8,100 sq. ft. building is being converted into a 5,000 sq. ft. community library making it five times Waldo Branch’s current size, plus 3,100 sq. ft. will be used for Library District storage space. The property is located at 15150 NE US Highway 301 in Waldo which is within walking distance to the current library.
