Grief Therapy through Art and Writing

Dr. Val D'Ortona, Santa Fe English professor, local artist, and creator of Isabel's World, faced tragedy in her life when her adult son was lost in an auto accident on Father's Day 2008. She found comfort in art and writing and in Isabel's World, a playful place of cow art, original animal paintings, and abstract art made in acrylics and water media. Because of her personal tragedy, she wrote the  children's book Big T's Heart's in Me. It is a whimsical story, and it is Tony's story that encourages readers to wear their seat belts and to register to be organ donors.

See Valerie's website at Isabelsworld.com.

Please join Valerie to learn about seat-belt safety, organ donation, grief therapy through art and writing, and paying tribute to lost loved ones. We will be in the Foundation Room on July 8th at 2:00pm at Library Headquarters.

This program is made possible thanks to the generosity of the Friends of the Library.
