Author Warren Zanes will speak about Petty The Biography November 21 at Headquarters

October 26, 2015

Author of Petty The Biography Warren Zanes will talk about his new book and many interviews with Gainesville’s most famous rock and roll legend Tom Petty. On Saturday, November 21, 2 p.m., rocker, writer and friend of Petty Warren Zanes will be at Headquarters Library, 401 E. University Avenue.

Come hear how Zanes, an accomplished writer and musician who toured with Petty, captured this exhilarating and intimate account of the life of music legend Tom Petty. Learn how Zanes went from an opening act for Petty’s band 30 years ago to penning this new biography (Henry Holt and Co. on sale November 10, 2015) with Petty’s full cooperation and unguarded honesty.

Zanes book reveals the details of Petty’s life on and off the stage. Petty’s family, his producers and his band mates past and present all weigh in. Several interviews, including those with former Heartbreaker member Stan Lynch, shed new light on the inner world of a group widely considered the best American rock and roll band to have emerged in the 1970s, a band that continues to sell out arenas.
