Battle of the Books is July 29 at Headquarters Library

Cheer for your favorite Battle of the Books teen team at Alachua County Library District’s 8th annual Battle of the Books competition at Headquarters Library on Saturday, July 29, at 1 p.m. This annual competition is between teams of teens from different library branches. During the summer teams from participating branch libraries meet regularly to discuss the three selected books used in the challenge. The selected books this year are Samurai Rising: The Epic Life of Minamoto Yoshitsune by Pamela S. Turner, Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard and The Sun is also a Star by Nicola Yoon. This final competition determines the winning team based on its knowledge of the books. High Springs Branch holds the 2016 title.

This free event is open to the public and will be in Meeting Room A at Headquarters Library, 401 E. University Avenue. All participating teens will receive a copy of each of this year’s featured books courtesy of the Friends of the Library.
