Adam Yauch was best-known as MCA, one-third of hip-hop group the Beastie Boys.
Music aside, the richness of his life and efforts also deserve mentioning. With the fame and privilege afforded by the band Yauch started the Milarepa Fund, a nonprofit dedicated to Tibetan freedom. The band as a whole had a curious but inspiring shift from offensive party rappers to outspoken artists and activists. A recent personal eulogy also touches on his feminism. Yauch also launched a video production and distribution company. Questlove from the Roots also gives a great testimony.
