2018 Author Series welcomes New York Times bestselling author Linda Castillo on Sunday, March 18 at 2:30 pm in Meeting Room A at Headquarters Library. Castillo is the author of the popular Kate Burkholder murder mystery series, which is set in Amish country. Castillo blends an interesting comingling of Amish and English culture in her mystery novels. In a small Ohio town, a series of brutal murders shook the peaceful farming community, where a young Kate Burkholder, herself Amish, survived the terror, but came out of it realizing that she no longer belonged with the Amish. Years later, she returns to her home town as Chief of Police to solve a number of murders and face her own involvement in them.
The latest in her series, Down a Dark Road tells the story of a convicted murderer on the run, heading towards her home town, and Burkholder must catch him before he murders again. The catch is that she grew up with him and used to adore him.
Castillo is originally from Ohio and penned her first novel at age thirteen. She has published 30 books for three New York publishing houses and has been nominated by the International Thriller Writers for Best Hardcover, the Golden Heart, the Daphne du Maurier of Excellence, and a nomination for the prestigious Rita. Her debut thriller Sworn to Silence garnered starred reviews from Library Journal, Publisher's Weekly, and Booklist and spent four weeks on the NYTimes bestseller list. Sworn to Silence has been adapted into a two hour original movie re-titled An Amish Murder starring Neve Campbell as Kate Burkholder.
In her spare time, Castillo enjoys trail riding and barrel racing.
