Please join award-winning writer, editor, and journalism educator, Ted Geltner, for the next Author Series presentation. Geltner specializes in biography, sports writing, and the history of sports journalism. His second book is Blood, Bone & Marrow: A Biography of Harry Crews, and it is the first full-length biography of the legendary novelist and journalist Crews. Geltner got to know Crews while working as a reporter, writing numerous articles about Crews's colorful escapades. Geltner's first book, Last King of the Sports Page, is about the Pulitzer Prize winning sports columnist Jim Murray.
Geltner earned his Ph.D in Journalism History from the University of Florida. While at UF, he also wrote for the Gainesville Sun. He has written extensively about sports journalism history including the history of Sports Illustrated magazine and literary journalism in sports.
Geltner is an associate professor at Valdosta State University, Georgia where he teaches Reporting, Literary Journalism, Magazine Journalism, and Photojournalism.
