Dr. Paul Ortiz will discuss his new book at Headquarters

Dr. Paul Ortiz, associate professor in History and director of the Samuel Proctor Oral History Program at the University of Florida will discusses his new book at Headquarters Meeting Room A on Tuesday, June 5 at 6:00 pm.

Incisive and timely, An African American and Latinx History is a revolutionary revisionist history told from the viewpoint of African American and Latinx activists revealing the radically different ways that brown and black people of the diaspora addressed issues plaguing the United States today.

Ortiz challenges the notion of westward progress and shows how placing African American, Latinx, and Indigenous voices unapologetically front and center transforms American history into one of the working class organizing themselves against imperialism.

The ReVisioning American History series consists of accessibly written books by notable scholars that reinterpret U.S. history from diverse perspectives.
