As part of the 2017 Bulla Cubana celebration, we present Raul Villarreal's book Hemingway's Cuban Son. In 1996, Raul's father, Rene Villarreal, returned to Cuba to retrieve his memoir of his life with famous American author Ernest Hemingway at the Finca Vigia. Sadly, Rene learned that the manuscript and photographs had been lost. Determined to tell his story, Villareal, together with his son Raul, set about rewriting the account of how he came to be Ernest Hemingway's majordomo, confidant, and friend- his Cuban son. Please join Gainesville's Raul Villareal as he presents the memoir of his father, Hemingway's Cuban Son, Saturday, March 18, at 2:00 p.m. at Headquarters Library, downtown, in Meeting Room A. His talk will be followed by book signing and selling.
This program is made possible thanks to the generosity of the Friends of the Library.
