Diane Barth will present her book I Know How You Feel: The Joy and Heartbreak of Friendship in Women's Lives on Saturday, June 9 at 2:30 in Meeting Room B. Barth is a psychotherapist widely recognized for her expertise in women's relationships. Her book explores the rich and sometimes complicated landscape of women's friendships in a timely, empathetic guide for women from their twenties to their sixties and beyond. She draws out engaging stories from a lively and diverse cast of women from all over the world, many of whom speak about feelings they haven't shared before. Barth examines how life changes, such as leaving college, getting married, having children (or not), jobs, geographic shifts, or losing a partner can affect friendships in subtle and not-so subtle ways.
She tackles topics such as: Mom friends, work friends, competitive friends, jealousy, lost friends, flirting husbands,....the list goes on.
