“The bestselling author of A MAN CALLED OVE returns with this heartwarming story about a woman rediscovering herself after personal crisis. Backman reveals Britt-Marie’s need for order….with clear, tight descriptions. Insightful and touching, this is a sweet and inspiring story about truth and transformation. Fans of Backman’s will find another winner in these pages.” (Publishers Weekly)
"Universal...Backman hits a nice note between overly sweet and hard-boiled fiction; excellent for book clubs." (Library Journal (starred review))
“Well-crafted, utterly absorbing and compelling . . . probably the best novel you will read all year.”—Chicago Tribune
“The story of any family is told through the prism of time. And no storyteller compares to Tyler when it comes to unspooling those tales.”—St. Louis Post-Dispatch
“An act of literary enchantment . . . [Anne] Tyler remains among the best chroniclers of family life this country has ever produced.”—The Washington Post
At the June 26th meeting, books for August and September will be selected through a very democratic process. Anybody who attends will have the right to nominate a book and/or exercise veto privileges on any selections. There will be no excuses for avoiding a certain book. . . or for selecting one that you regret.
We have a small and dedicated group that is always open to new members and new perspectives. Come on in and join us for our next discussion or stop by the library and get a copy of the current book.
