In a unique study focusing on factual procedures, Michael T. Gengler will present Alachua County's history of school desegregation. His book, We Can Do It, opened as the #1 Civil Rights Law eBook in the US. The book presents extensive interviews and asks important questions. How did both races, without precedent, work together to create desegregated schools? And what lessons can be learned from the generation that desegregated our schools?
Michael T. Gengler graduated from GHS in 1962. In 1969, he received his JD degree from Harvard Law School. For most of his career, he was a corporate lawyer in Boston and Chicago. He came back to Gainesville and remains a vocal advocate for public school education.
Gengler will speak on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 2:00 pm in Meeting Room A, Library Headquarters.
