Community partners, library present re-entry conference, job fair

Gainesville, Fla. – Alachua County Library District and Partnership for Strong Families in collaboration with community partners present the fourth Re-Entry Partnership Conference April 15-18 at Library Partnership Branch, and the Community Job and Resource Fair April 30 at Headquarters Branch. The Re-Entry Partnership Conference and Job and Resource Fair are geared to help people with criminal backgrounds or others struggling to re-enter the workforce, access educational programs and discover entrepreneurship opportunities.

The Re-Entry Partnership Conference is 10 a.m.-noon Monday, April 15- Thursday, April 18 at Library Partnership Branch, 912 NE 16th Ave. Trained experts will help participants create email accounts and resumes, offer job searching tips, interview advice and tips for starting a small business. The conference is designed to prepare participants for the Community Job and Resource Fair and beyond.

Participants are asked to complete all conference workshops and will receive employment-related incentives, such as professional interview and job fair clothing, a resume and portfolio, and a thumb drive. Conference participants who complete all four days of the conference will be eligible to receive a monthly bus pass.  Registration in advance is encouraged.

The Re-Entry Community Job and Resource Fair is 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday, April 30 at Headquarters Branch, 401 East University Ave. This job and resource fair is open to anyone and allows job seekers to meet face-to-face with potential employers and representatives from community agencies to address employment-related barriers.
Alachua County Library District, Partnership for Strong Families, Florida Department of Corrections, CareerSource of North Central Florida, Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, Gainesville Housing Authority, Satchel’s Pizza, Greater Gainesville Chamber and The Florida Council are collaborating to offer the conference and job fair.
