Conezilla reviews not-so-classic fairy tales!

Conezilla with books

I love fairy tales! At night, I like to raid the 398 non-fiction section of the library. That is where you find the fairy tales, legends and folklore books. It’s filled with awesome stories from around the world! My favorite, though, is when someone takes a story that we all know and changes it up. I find most of these books in the picture book and fiction section of the library. I love the feel of a familiar story that is filled with little bits of the unexpected. Below are a two of my favorites!

Interstellar CinderellaInterstellar Cinderella by Deborah Underwood

Cinderella dreams of fixing rocket ships! She is an amazing mechanic. During the day, Cinderella fixes all of the robots, dishwashers, zoombrooms, and machines in her home. At night, she studies ship repair. Her family is invited to the event of the year, the Royal Prince’s Space Parade. Cinderella’s family is not very nice. They leave her at home with a broken ship and no tools. Luckily, Cinderella has a fairy godrobot. With a little help and a new socket wrench, Cinderella is on her way to the parade. She is amazed by the beautiful ships in the parade, and dreams of being a chief mechanic. Oh no, the prince’s ship is in trouble. Can Cinderella fix his ship and live her dream? Well, I’m not going to tell you. You will just have to read it yourself to see if she achieves her dreams.

Snow White and the 77 DwarfsSnow White and the 77 Dwarfs by Davide Cali

Snow White is on the run. The evil witch is after her, and she seeks shelter with 77 dwarfs. Yes. You read that correctly. 77 dwarfs! How will Snow White even remember all of their names?

77 dwarf names

That is a lot of people! Snow White just has to help the dwarfs with a few chores, and they will help keep her hidden from the evil witch. She must do a little cooking, sweeping, and reading. That doesn’t sound hard, anyone could help with those things. Well, when you are in charge of cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner for 77 people, it can be really really hard. Don’t forget, she also has to help by reading 77 bedtime stories, trimming 77 beards, and don’t forget the laundry. Whew. I’m exhausted just thinking about taking care of 77 dwarfs. I’m sure they would have my Mint Chocolate Chip melting in minutes! What is Snow White going to do? I hope you’ll enjoy the fun and unexpected ending to this twist on a classic fairy tale.
