Your library card provides resources, homework help and more.

School is back in session and that means homework. Don't worry...your library is here! The Library has a wealth of tools and services that support students, parents and educators during the school year.

  • At home?  Access online resources including biographies, science project ideas, magazines, journals and encyclopedias from Kids or Teens or Homework Help for a wealth of online databases that can help with a variety of projects. Keep your library card handy for this, you will need it to log onto these resources.
  • Need a place to go? Your libraries have computer work stations, free wireless internet and printing available plus spaces for study. Several branches have spaces designed especially for teens.

The Alachua County Library District subscribes to databases specifically to help students find good, authoritative information online a wide range of topics. Each resource is designed to provide learning and study assistance by grade level and subject area.

Students can find excellent information on various Science topics using the database Science Online. This resource features science experiments and activities; articles highlighting recent scientific events and discoveries; more the 7,500 printable diagrams, illustrations and images; and more than 500 videos and flash animations.

MasterFILE Premier is a searchable collection of magazines, journals, and reference materials in a variety of subjects - business, health, education, science, general reference, and much more. This is an especially handy tool for research projects and reports.

For social studies project students can find a plethora of information about each state in the United States in America The Beautiful and for countries around the world, Lands and People is a fantastic resource which includes flags, maps and quick facts.

For teens getting ready for college Learning Express can help with test prep for PSAT, ACT, SAT and Advanced Placement tests. This resource provides e-books, instantly scored practice tests, essay practice, exercises and interactive lessons to help build your skills.
