Forty authors visit Alachua County Library District for I Heart Books

I Heart Books festival comes to the Alachua County Library District on May 11.

Gainesville, Fla. – Authors from diverse genres will meet fans at the I Heart Books event noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 11 at Headquarters Branch, 401 E. University Ave.

This multi-genre event presented by the Alachua County Library District and the Florida Writers Association is free. More than 40 Florida authors will participate in panels and get to know local readers. Attendees can purchase books, have them signed, and chat with the authors. Readers can also participate in author bingo for a chance to win a Reader Appreciation Basket.

Author panels are scheduled as follows:

12:15-12:45 p.m. Romance, featuring Rebecca Heflin and Brigit Rose

1-1:30 p.m. Mystery, featuring Kathleen Lopez and Kassandra Lamb

2-2:30 p.m. Sci-Fi and Fantasy, featuring Jennifer Garrett and Daniel de Lill

3-3:30 p.m. Young Adult, featuring Melody Dimick, J.L. Bond and Val Richards

The Author Series is presented by the Friends of the Library. Each author will speak, answer questions and be available for book signings. Copies of their books will be for sale. Library copies may be reserved at www.aclib.us/author-series. The 2019 series concludes as follows:

  • Melanie Benjamin – 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 15    
    Melanie Benjamin is the author of bestselling historical novels The Swans of Fifth Avenue, about Truman Capote and his society swans, and The Aviator's Wife, about Anne Morrow Lindbergh. Her latest novel, The Girls in the Picture, chronicles the friendship and creative partnership between Hollywood screenwriter Frances Marion and superstar Mary Pickford. Her novels have been translated in over 15 languages.
