The Friends of the Library will hold its fall book sale from Saturday, Oct. 13, to Wednesday, Oct. 17, at its Book House, 430-B N. Main Street. This is one of the largest community book sales in the country with thousands of bargains on items in more than 60 categories including books, comics, artwork, posters, DVDs, vinyl records and more. Hardback books, paperback and large print books are available for purchase with most items priced from 25 cents to $4.
The Collector’s Corner is a unique feature of the book sale that offers special items including first editions, signed and rare books for purchase at fair prices. It is open the first four days of the sale.
This sale occurs only twice a year, in the fall and spring. Shoppers are advised to bring their own bags or boxes. Cash and checks only are accepted for payment. Hours are:
Saturday, Oct. 13, 9 a.m.to 6 p.m.
Sunday, Oct. 14, 12 to 6 p.m.
Monday, Oct. 15, 12 to 6 p.m.
Tuesday, Oct. 16, 12 to 6 p.m. – everything in the general collection is half price
Wednesday, Oct. 17, 12 to 6 p.m. – everything is 10 cents
The spring book sale is April 27 to May 1, 2019. Proceeds from book sales help to purchase library materials, pay for programs for all ages at Alachua County Library District branches throughout the county, fund scholarships for library staff and make special land purchases as well as help with remodeling projects at local libraries.
