The Alachua County Library District Governing Board met in regular session.

 

PRESENT:            Chair Lee Pinkoson, presiding, Vice-Chair Susan Bottcher, Governors Yvonne Hinson-Rawls and Leanetta McNealy, Ph. D.

 

ABSENT:              Governors Charles S. Chestnut IV and Robert “Hutch” Hutchinson

 

ALSO PRESENT:   Library Director Shaney T. Livingston, Assistant County Attorney William Harlan, Clerk J.K. Irby, Assistant Clerk/Finance Director Todd Hutchison, Deputy Clerk Bob Decker

 

The meeting was not televised.

 

Chair Pinkoson opened the meeting at 10:31 A.M.

 

I.       APPROVAL OF THE CONSENT AND REGULAR AGENDAS

 

          Governor Bottcher moved approval of the Consent and Regular Agendas.  The motion carried 4-0.

 

          (The items on the Consent Agenda are of a routine nature.  The motion to adopt the Consent and Regular Agendas approved all items and recommended actions on the Consent Agenda.)

 

A.      Warrant List

 

          Staff Recommended Action: Ratify the Warrant List.

 

B.       Minutes of Meeting

 

Staff Recommended Action: Approve the Minutes of the December 12, 2013 Regular Meeting.

 

C.       Resolution 14-01 – Disposal of Alachua County Library District Surplus Property

 

          Staff Recommended Action: Adopt Resolution 14-01.

 

 

II.      SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS

 

A.      Welcome and Introduction of Alachua County Library District Staff

 

          Staff Recommended Action: Welcome new staff members.

 

          Library Director Shaney Livingston introduced Administrative Services Administrator Darrell Elmore to the Governing Board.

 

III.    BOARD OF TRUSTEES

 

A.      Library Director Performance Evaluation by the Board of Trustees

 

Staff Recommended Action: Accept the Board of Trustees’ Outstanding Performance Evaluation of the Library Director and any salary adjustment.

 

          Board of Trustees Chair Dr. Sheila Dickison presented the above item.

 

          Governor Hinson-Rawls moved to accept the Board of Trustees’ Outstanding Performance Evaluation of the Library Director.  The motion carried 4-0.

 

IV.     UNFINISHED BUSINESS

 

          (There were no items submitted in this category.)

 

V.      NEW BUSINESS

 

A.      Library Director Performance Evaluation by the Governing Board

 

Staff Recommended Action: Set a deadline for submission of performance evaluations.

 

          Library Director Shaney Livingston and Human Resources Manager Kim Baldry presented the above item.

 

          Chair Pinkoson requested that all performance evaluation forms be submitted to Terry Rasch no later than Thursday, January 16, 2014.

 

VI.     INFORMATIONAL ITEMS THAT REQUIRE NO ACTION

 

A.      Monthly Statistical Report (November 2013)

VII.    GOVERNING BOARD COMMENT

 

          Governor Hinson-Rawls commented on the Library District opening new access to services for the citizens.

 

          Governor McNealy requested to know if any of the branch libraries requested upgrades to their facilities.

 

          Library Director Shaney Livingston stated that the 20 year Capital Improvement Plan is reviewed every year and gave a brief overview of the planned expansions and improvements coming in the next Fiscal Year.

 

VIII.  CITIZEN COMMENT

 

          There were no citizens present who wished to provide comments to the Governing Board.

 

IX.     ADJOURNMENT

 

          There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 10:54 A.M.
