Tower Road Branch Library presents Graff Art Party on Sunday, July 12, from 1 to 4 p.m. This family event will feature a gallery of street art photographs, live graffiti art demonstrations, crafts for children and a live DJ.

This afternoon program introduces graffiti and urban art via several local artists doing live paintings and teaching children how to do graffiti using stencils and creating their own designs. Iryna Kanishcheva, editor in chief and photographer of GnvUrbanArt.com, a new website about street art in Gainesville, will present a gallery of photographs starring local street art and graffiti.

Kanishcheva’s career was in pharmaceutics until she moved from her native country of Ukraine to France where she studied art and discovered an appreciation of street art across Europe. She moved to Gainesville in 2013 and shortly afterward organized a European Street Art photography documentary for the Display Gallery at 439 S. Main Street. She is now working on other urban art projects in Gainesville.

Also, some paintings on canvas will be on display and DJ Solid from Puerto Rico will provide musical inspiration. This program provides an opportunity for kids, teens and families to be engage in self-expression and to learn how graffiti can be beautiful, legal and fun. Tower Road Branch is located at 3020 S.W. 75 Street, (352) 333-2840.
