African-American Read-In 2017

Join us to celebrate African-American Literature and discover some great authors and books to explore. The Hawthorne Branch Library will be hosting our African American Read-In on Saturday February 25, 2017 at 2:00 pm. Among the featured readers will be local leaders and community members. Refreshments will be served by the Hawthorne Woman's Club. Decorations provided by the Youth Training Program.  Please plan to join us!

The African American Read-In (AARI), established by the Black Caucus of NCTE, is built on the premise that a community reading event can be an effective way to promote diversity in literature, encourage people to read, and shine a spotlight on African American authors. One goal is to gather over a million readers nationally to share favorite works by these beloved writers  as part of our conutry's Black History Month celebrations of African American heritage and literature.
