April is for art

If you love art, please join us for the 48th annual Hawthorne Art Show -- we display many types of media, turning the library into a beautiful celebration of local arts and crafts.

To thank the artists who display their works with us, we have an Artists' Appreciation Reception on Thursday, April 24th.  Please begin arriving around 6:30 PM to mingle with the artists and view the art.  At approximately 6:50 PM, the Hawthorne Woman's Club will begin serving refreshments and soon after we will introduce the artists.  Tim Malles, the evening's featured artist will be demonstrating the creation of a nocturne painting. Please visit Tim's website to view some of his nocturnes.

A native Floridian, Tim’s life-long passion to paint the Florida landscape is inspired by the extreme changes in the environment experienced by our generation.  Water themes and nocturnes are recurrent in his work.  Growing up during the birth of the space age inspired Tim’s passion for astronomy and space art.  His primary medium is oil on wood and canvas, applied with brushes and knives, his style is realist to impressionistic, filled with light, color, energy and movement.

To display some of your works with us, please deliver them to the library during open hours throughout the week beginning Monday, March 24th. We would prefer to have all artwork by Sunday, March 30th, but will accept additions throughout April.  Items will be displayed throughout the month of April.  Please pick up items beginning Thursday, May 1st and please have displayed art picked up by Monday, May 12 unless prior arrangements are made.  The library is open 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
