Escape the Ordinary in Hawthorne This Summer

Hey Grownups -- don't let the kids have all the summer fun: "Escape the Ordinary" with Hawthorne Library's 4th annual summer reading adventures for the young at heart!  Signup at your branch, or online to rate and review books you've read as well as read other readers' reviews. We're celebrating local heroes and have lined up 2 special events for your enjoyment:

View the slildeshow below of Our Memories of Service: during which a panel of local Service Men and Women discussed their memories of service and answered questions bringing history to life! We celebrated our local Hawthorne Veterans and got some first hand insight into WWII, Viet Nam, Korea as well as the life of service men and women from the  US Navy, USMC, and US Army.

You can still sign up to participate in the summer reading raffle: the more you read, the more chances you have to win! Prize drawings occur weekly on Fridays and you will be notified if your entry is drawn, no need to be present. Prizes are donated by our local businesses for you to enjoy. Just let us know what you read, write a 1 sentence review, and place your entry in the box for the next drawing (one book per entry). Listening to audio books counts too, so read in whatever format you enjoy!

For the summer finale' come “Escape the Ordinary” with Hawthorne football hero Cornelius Ingram on Saturday August 1st at 2:00 PM! Star quarterback for the Hawthorne Hornets, tight end for the Gators, NFL Philadelphia Eagle, and NOW Hornets’ football coach, will share his passion for the game, for Hawthorne and for inspiring kids growing up in his hometown! The Hawthorne Area Historical Society will host a reception in his honor with refreshments following this event at the Hawthorne Historical Museum and Cultural Center.
