99th annual Children’s Book Week, April 30 – May 6, 2018

The 99th annual Children’s Book Week is April 30 – May 6, 2018.  Come celebrate with us at Headquarters Library with this year’s theme, “One World, Many Stories.”

You can participate by making your own book, any time during this special week.  We’ll have all the supplies you’ll need.

Monday, April 30 - Sunday, May 6 – Make Your Own Book to celebrate Children's Book Week 

2018!  We will have all the supplies ready for you.  Come downstairs any time during our open hours, and “Make It and Take It.”

May 1 Tuesday 10:30 – Special Toddler Time with the One World, Many Stories.  This storytime features stories from around the world to celebrate Children's Book Week 2018. Join us for stories, songs, finger plays and dancing!  

May 2 Wednesday 10:30 – Music and Movement: One World, Many Stories - Music From Around the World.   Join us for a special music and movement program which will feature music from around the world

.  This highly interactive program encourages children to use simple musical instruments to learn about rhythm and sounds while developing fine motor skills.  All children and caregivers are welcome. Children under the age of five must be accompanied by an adult.  For children ages 1 -5. 

May 2 Wednesday 3:00 – One World, Many Stories - Create Your Own Graphic Novel  Celebrate Children's Book Week at the downtown library by creating your very own graphic novel or comic book!  The theme of this year's Children's Book Week is "One World, Many Stories" and children are invited to come share their own stories by creating a graphic novel or comic book.  Kids will learn about making graphic novels and comics and then we'll provide the supplies they need to write and draw their own story.  Don't have an idea for a story? Our paper fortune teller will offer great prompts for any storyteller!  For ages 5 -11.

 May 3 Thursday 10:30 -- Babytime with the One World, Many stories.  Special Babytime featuring stories and songs from around the world. Stories, songs, nursery rhymes, and fingerplays for babies and infants birth to 1 year.  Caregivers should supply one lap per baby for this highly interactive program. 

May 4 Friday 3:00 – One World, Many Stories for School Children  Join us for stories and songs from around the world, Then stay for our craft program -- Make and Take a paper doll from Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Little Red Riding Hood, or the Three Little Pigs.

May 5 Saturday 11:00 -- Family Fun Time  Featuring special stories and music for the whole family to celebrate Children's Book Week.
