Come hear Ilyasah Shabazz speak about her life as the daughter of Civil Rights Leaders Malcolm X and Betty Shabazz, on Sunday, September 27 @ 2:30 at the Headquarters Library.
Ilyasah Al-Shabazz is a community organizer, activist, motivational speaker, and author of the critically acclaimed Growing Up X.
She is co-editor with Herb Boyd of The Diary of Malcolm X, worked with illustrator AG Ford on The Boy Who Grew Up to Become Malcolm X and with Kekla Magoon, on X: A novel, which recently made the longlist for the 2015 National Book Award for Young People's Literature.
Ilyasah holds a Master of Science degree in Education and Human Resource Development and currently resides in the Westchester County of NY.
