Lake Apopka Farmworker Memorial Quilt Project Exhibit

The Headquarters Library is proud to display the Lake Apopka Farmworker Memorial Quilts Exhibit.

The two quilts and informational panels will be on display on the 3rd floor until Oct. 27, accessible anytime the library is open.

Lake Apopka Farmworkers Quilt

“The Lake Apopka Farmworker Memorial Quilts are a tribute to the lives of farmworkers who lost their lives as a result of feeding America for decades. The stories told by each individual square weave the personal histories, tragedies, and small victories together to speak about the injustice which still occurs beneath our dinner tables.”

Join us for the reception on Saturday, Sept. 21, 11am-1pm, in Mtg. Rm A

Enjoy refreshments and hear speakers from the Farmworker Association of Florida talk at the reception about the quilt project and their experiences.  The quilts will be on display at the downtown library until Oct. 27.

Learn more about the group here.  And follow the history of the quilts, too.
