Zora Neale Hurston

The Alachua County Library District and The University of Florida’s George A. Smathers Library, and M.A.M.A.'s Club, will celebrate the life and work of Zora Neale Hurston with a series of discussions, films, and other activities.     

APRIL 5 | 5-8 PM Zora Neale Hurston Collection and Reception  

This event will be hosted by Librarian Florence Turcotte and Faye Williams at the University of Florida George A. Smathers Library and will feature a viewing of the collection of Zora Neale Hurston's books, letters, poems, and manuscripts. Also, Smathers Library is pleased to announced that Deborah G. Plant, editor of Barracoon, Hurston's posthumous book, will attend the event and share her work on this iconic author. 

APRIL 7 | 2-4:30 PM Film Viewing and Discussion:

This event will conclude with a viewing of  Zora’s Roots: The Life of Zora Neale Hurston and discussion by Lizzie Jenkins and members of Zeta Phi Beta at Headquarters Branch Library, Meeting Room B.

So, please come out and join us! You might just have some fun and learn something you never knew about this iconic Florida author.
