High Springs Branch Expansion

The High Springs Branch Library started an expansion of about 3000 sq ft on Monday, March 14th. This expansion will include a larger meeting room, new restrooms, two study rooms and a quiet reading room. There will also be a renovation of the the existing library space to include a teen room, new children's area, patron entrance and staff area. With this project will come more parking, comfortable seating areas and computers.

The library plans on being open regular hours for the duration of the project which should be completed in September 2016. During this process parking may be limited. When the library lot is full, the parking spaces at the fire station and City Hall's lot are available as well as a few on street spots. The back entrance of the library has also been closed off, so only the front entrance on HWY 27 is accessible. Access to the library's meeting room will become limited further into the project. We plan on having some programs across the street at the High Springs New Century Woman's Club. Please stay tuned to our Branch Events Calendar for program locations.

There will be construction noise during the expansion. When the renovation of the existing library begins, there will be additional noise and some limited access to library materials. You might have noticed our shelves look a bit sparse, as we temporarily house some of our materials at the Headquarters Library in Gainesville. We are happy to place holds on any materials and bring them in from other branches if we don't currently have what you're looking for. We as a staff will strive to bring you the same level of service during this time and apologize for any inconveniences this project might bring.

We are excited about having a larger, more comfortable and attractive space for our wonderful library patrons. Check back on the blog often for more pictures in the library's Flickr account. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email or call, bnoll@aclib.us or 386-454-2515.
