Information on Medicare

SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders) is a free program offered by the Florida Department of Elder Affairs and your local Area Agency on Aging. Specially trained volunteers can assist you with your Medicare, Medicaid, and health insurance questions by providing one-on-one counseling and information. SHINE services are free, unbiased, and confidential.

For those interested in learning about MedicareElder Options will be offering virtual classes through the SHINE program. Here is your opportunity to attend these classes from your place of comfort. To register for a class, please call (352) 692-5262 or email shine@agingresources.org.

The week of September 14:

Entire Week: Shine Program Overview (Provides a brief snapshot of the SHINE program and its services available to local communities). Available all-day all week.

Entire Week: Medicare 101 (Provides an overview of the different parts of Medicare including: Parts A, B, C, D, Medigap and available financial assistance). Available all-day all week.

Entire Week: Medicare Part C (Provides an overview of Medicare Advantage options available in Florida). Available all-day all week.

La Semana Entera: Conceptos Basicos de Medicare (Puntos basicos de Medicare y como el program de SHINE le brinda ayuda gratuitamente con Medicare). Disponible todo el día toda la semana.

La Semana Entera: Presentacion del Programa SHINE en Espanol (Proporciona una breve instantánea del programa SHINE y sus servicios disponibles para las comunidades locales). Disponible todo el día toda la semana.
