Join us for a Sunday afternoon of classical guitar music by David Grimes, Gregory Newton and Michael Nigro. Trio Camino will present a colorful program from Greece, Mexico and South America on Sun., Feb. 7th at 2 PM at the High Springs Library Branch. This program is funded in part by the High Springs Friends of the Library.
David Grimes and Gregory Newton have performed together since the mid-1990s. Their concerts have been received enthusiastically throughout North America and Europe, and they were recently featured at the First International Cape Town Guitar Festival in South Africa. This season they are joined by recording artist Michael Nigro to form the Trio Camino, presenting varied programs of classical guitar solos, duets and trios.
David Grimes has performed extensively throughout North America and Europe, and recent concert tours have taken him to Greece, Bulgaria, Spain, Denmark, France, Norway, Malta, Belarus, Serbia and Montenegro. Highly respected as a teacher and coach, David was Director of Guitar Studies at California State University, Fullerton, where he developed one of the nation’s leading centers of guitar instruction. For eighteen years David was President of the Guitar Foundation of America and now remains as Reviews Editor for the journal Soundboard.
Dr. Gregory Newton has given concerts, master classes and broadcasts throughout the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Scandinavia, Western and Eastern Europe, South America and the Middle East. Dr. Newton is on the faculties of Los Angeles City College, Los Angeles Valley College and Glendale College, teaching guitar, music theory and music appreciation, and is the classical guitar instructor on VideoGuitarLessons.com. He is President of the American Guitar Society and Director of the AGS International Concert Series.
Michael Anthony Nigro, directs the guitar program at Vanguard University. He has performed across the United States and in South America, giving concerts and master classes for numerous universities, performing arts centers, church concert series, guitar societies, libraries and museums.
