Gainesville, Fla. – “Queen of Kids’ Music” Laurie Berkner will perform two shows at Headquarters Library at
10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, March 9.
Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis, so attendees are advised to arrive early. Berkner will perform in Meeting Room A at Headquarters Library, 401 E. University Ave.
Known for her hits We are the Dinosaurs and Rocketship Run, Berkner has been a professional musician since 1992. She worked as a children’s music specialist in New York before embarking on her career in “kindie rock.”
“Laurie Berkner does what Fred Rogers did: respect, validate and reassure young children,” the Los Angeles Times described of her work.
In addition to 12 bestselling albums, Berkner has also penned three picture books – We Are the Dinosaurs, Pillowland and Monster Boogie. In 2018, she also wrote and produced an audio series titled Laurie Berkner’s Song and Story Kitchen.
“I want to create songs that matter for children,” Berkner said. “I was singing once and saw a 4-year-old girl shut her eyes and start swaying to the music. I thought, ‘That’s the reason I got into music.’ It keeps me wanting to do more.”
