Family Fun DIY: Orizomegami

Orizomegami is the Japanese name for a type of paper folding and dyeing that has been practiced in Japan as well as in other places around the world for centuries.

Usually Orizomegami is created with fabrics or specialty papers and naturally derived dyes but today I’m going to show you how you and your family can try this technique using stuff you probably already have at home.

Check out the video below, and once you’ve perfected your beautifully dyed papers, log in to Creativebug (free with your valid Alachua County Library Card) and search “Kids Japanese Side Sewn” for a cool way to turn your papers into beautiful booklets.
