Andre Frattino has worked as a professional illustrator for several years now, ranging from commercial illustration, comics and video game design, but his passion for storytelling goes far deeper as he’s also served nearly 10 years as a ghost tour guide and paranormal investigator (even going as far as having worked as a location consultant on the SYFY series Ghost Hunters).

Andre’s professional work first started as the inker/colorist for the comic book series, Azteca. In 2011 he worked for the New York Bestselling Author, Shelley Fraser Mickles, illustrating several titles under her publishing company, Wild Onion Press including Here Comes Julie Jack and Tessee Teaches Gravity. Around the same time, Andre served as the staff cartoonist for The Independent Alligator NewspaCover image for The Vampirate of Matanzas Inletper where he created his well-received comic strip, Son of a Gator. Other credits include lead 2D Illustrator for Puppy Punch Production’s Terror Tower video game and freelance artwork for Firehouse Subs Inc.

He is best known for his graphic novel series through Pineapple Press, of which is the first comic series to be published by the company in it’s over 30 year history. The titles include The Reaper of St. George Street, Lost Souls of Savannah and the most recent The Vampirate of Matanzas Inlet, all of which are set in St. Augustine, FL. These books mix Andre’s passion for comics with that of the paranormal and Florida folklore.

Kami co-founded YALLFEST, the biggest teen book festival in the country, held annually in Charleston, SC. She is a board member of YALLFEST and YALLWEST, the sister festival, in Santa Monica, CA. Kami is the YALLWEST Purple Ink Award Committee Chair, an award established in her honor, to provide books for classroom libraries, in underfunded Los Angeles schools. Kami volunteers her time with the non-profit groups WriteGirl, a creative writing and mentoring organization for girls that awarded her a 2012 Bold Ink Award; as a member of the National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWRiMo) Writers Board; and Gilda’s Club, as a judge for their annual teen writing competition.

Kami has an MA in education, and she was a teacher for 17 years before co-authoring her first novel on a dare from 7 of her students. If she isn’t busy watching Supernatural, Kami can teach you how to escape from a pair of handcuffs or bake a Coca-Cola cake. She has never raced a car, but there is still time. She lives in Maryland with her family, and their dogs Spike and Oz (named after characters from Buffy the Vampire Slayer).

You can catch Andre and Kami at the Headquarters library on April 8th at Fandomonium!
