Moon Landing 50th Anniversary Poster Contest

Image of Buzz Aldrin on the MoonJuly 20, 2019 is the 50th Anniversary of the NASA Apollo 11 moon landing. On that day in 1969, Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin took their first steps on the moon, while Michael Collins piloted the command module high above the lunar surface. Left on the moon were an American flag and a plaque that reads: "Here men from the planet Earth first set foot on the moon-July 1969 A.D.-We came in peace for all mankind."

To celebrate this milestone, the Asterion Foundation is inviting children in Alachua County aged 5-12 to create original poster art with a moon landing theme and enter their creations in a contest to win prizes. Artwork may focus on a memorable or celebratory image of the Apollo 11 mission, the lunar module, the astronauts themselves, famous quotes from the mission, technology or uniforms pertaining to Apollo 11, images of Earth and/or the moon, elements of the operation from ground to moon, and anything else related to the central theme.
