Largest Friends of the Library Book Sale in the country starts October 24

The Friends of the Library will hold its annual fall book sale from Saturday, October 24, to Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at the FOL Book House, 430-B N. Main Street. All the profits from this low-overhead volunteer effort will be used for the Alachua County Library District and community literacy projects.

More than 500,000 items in more than 64 categories will be available for purchase including hardback, paperback and large print books, with most items priced from 25 cents to $4. The collection includes a vast array of classical and modern fiction, children and young adult books, textbooks from preschool through graduate school, cookbooks, hobby books, audiobooks, music CD’s, videotapes and DVD’s, manga, comic books, magazines, artwork, records, games, puzzles, video games, computer software and more.

The Collector’s Corner is open the first four days of the sale. This unique feature of the book sale offers special items including first editions, signed copies and rare books for purchase at fair prices.

Mark your calendar. This sale occurs only twice a year, in the spring and fall. Shoppers are advised to bring their own boxes. Cash and checks are accepted for payment. Hours are: 
Saturday, October 24, 9 6 p.m.
Sunday, October 25, 12 to 6 p.m.
Monday, October 26, 12 to 6 p.m.
Tuesday, October 27, 12 to 6 p.m. – everything in the general collection is half price
Wednesday, October 28, 12 to 6 p.m. – everything is 10 cents

Proceeds from the book sale help to purchase library materials, programs for all ages at library branches throughout the county, scholarships for library staff and special land purchases as well as remodeling projects for the library.
