Gainesville, Fla. – The Alachua County Library District awarded its 2020 Carol Combs Hole Award to Librarian Rachel Moore for leading the Library District’s new video editing program. The annual award honors the memory of Carol Combs Hole by recognizing an employee or group for outstanding accomplishments that exemplify “thinking outside the book” to enhance or promote library services and community outreach.

Moore received the award for spearheading the library’s new video editing program to deliver online programs to patrons during the COVID-19 pandemic. Moore led a video editing team in developing and managing a whole new set of video editing procedures for the Library District, including using new video editing software, troubleshooting technical issues, and providing tips on best practices for creating video programs. Moore took responsibility for all video programs created by staff members, including editing, captioning, scheduling, and posting dozens of video programs. From toddler story times to craft tutorials, Moore polished and distributed programs to library patrons in the safety of their homes during difficult times.

The Video Editing Team also received an honorable mention for their assistance in delivering video programs to the community.  Since April, the team has edited and shared more than 120 video programs on the Library District’s YouTube channel, https://youtube.com/AlachuaLibrary.

This annual award honors former Community Services Coordinator Carol Combs Hole’s dedication during her 32-year career with the Library District. Hole received national and regional awards for her work developing innovative library services.
